PAPER CRAFT WORKSHOP

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In this workshop, you will bring your own artwork to life as papercut illustration. You will learn basic paper cutting techniques by Tsvetislava to transform your drawings into compositions with volume.

The workshop will last two days (4 hours each), and we’ll take place in the L44 Gallery. All of the materials will be provided.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PREPARE?

You should submit  your design until the 25th of June for evaluation of complexity.

• Size – Your artwork should be 30x40cm (horizontal, vertical or even square – it’s up to you:)

• Colors – Use solid colors only*. We’ll be working with colored papers (no transparency, textures or gradients);
  

• File – You must send your artwork as a.psd or .ai file. The layers must be positioned and named in the sequence of construction (from top to bottom). Think of your artwork as a sandwich – each layer will support the other in the construction.
• Details – keep in mind that each element will be cut by hand. We recommend not using strokes with width under 2 mm.

NB *After booking your place in the workshop, you’ll receive a document with the available colors of paper and some examples for inspiration.

AGENDA

Day 1 / Saturday

Start 11 am – The workshop will begin at 11 am on Saturday. We kindly invite all the participants to arrive at 10.30 so that we can start on time.
11am – 13pm  – The first part will be an introduction to papercraft and Tsvetislava’s work. After that we’ll dive into a couple of exercises that we’ll help participants to get a sense of the material and the technique of cutting.
13 – 14 pm – Lunch break
14 – 16 pm – Each participant will start the process of creating his own artwork.

Day 2 / Sunday

11 am – 13 pm – Participants will continue with the making of their artwork
13 – 14 pm – Lunch break
14 – 16 pm – Finishing touches & beers:)
