FROMA TO B
Plovdiv design studio Punkt presents the debut book by young designer Georgi Vasilev, with exhibitions in Sofia and Plovdiv.
The new book, A to B: A Short History of Travelling Together Between the First and Last Stop, takes a look at the funny and sad stories, clichés and stereotypes of public transport. Beyond the humour, it invites us to think about how to be together with patience and understanding, even when the bus is late or overcrowded.
The concept, illustrations and layout are by young graphic designer Georgi Vasilev. He graduated in Book, Illustration and Printmaking from the National Academy of Arts in 2017.
As a long-time designer at Studio Punkt, he has worked on a number of corporate identity, graphic design and print projects. The theme of togetherness is not new to him: with Punkt, he worked on the visual identity of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019, which was held under the motto “Together”.
The book’s text is by Teodor Genov, known both for his words in advertising and marketing and as an artist and illustrator. He is also a member of Studio Punkt.
From A to B by Georgi Vasilev and Teodor Genov will be presented for the first time on Sunday, 1 November, at punkt.salon (38 Otets Paisiy St., Plovdiv). An exhibition of the authors’ prints of illustrations from the book will open at the same time.
A week later, on 8 November, audiences in Sofia will also have the chance to meet the team behind the book and the exhibition, at L44 gallery.
After the presentations, the book will be available to buy online and in selected bookshops across the country, as well as at L44.
